1st Annual Engineering Research & Innovation Fair, featuring TSA Expo 2024

The School of Engineering held their 1st Annual Engineering Research & Innovation Fair on Thursday 8th March 2024, that also featured the Engineering Students (TSA) Expo, 2024 edition. The event was themed “Advancing Engineering Research & Innovation for Sustainable Socio-Economic Development.

It was an opportunity for postgraduate and undergraduate engineering students to showcase their research work and exhibit their innovations. This event was also part of the School of Engineering celebrations of Moi University turning 40 years. The DVC-Academics, Research, Extension & Students Affairs was represented by the Registrar, Dr. David Ruto. Speaking during the event, Dr. Ruto reiterated the need to bring on board all schools in the Innovation Exhibition to give other students an opportunity to exhibit their inventions. The sentiment was further emphasized by the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Research & Innovation who was the guest speaker. Others who spoke at the event were Prof. Bernard Nassiuma from Moi University Incubation Centre, Prof. Joel Kibiiy (Associate Dean - School of Engineering) and Mr. Anthony Mbayaki from Moi University Technology Transfer Office. The Dean, School of Engineering, Prof. Eng. Augustine Makokha challenged students to be creative and innovative, and develop solutions that will address current global challenges such as energy crisis, violence, floods, climate change and sustainability.

The event was sponsored by Moi University's School of Engineering Alumni group (TECHBLOCK Alumni), The Royal Academy of Engineering (@RAEngNews) and Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK). The best projects and research posters received awards from the University. The research projects and innovations cut across different fields of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) including energy, water, waste management, sustainability, software and internet of things (IoT).
